The New Itomic LABO has opened!!

R&D facility with a showroom
iTOMIC LABO Opened in Tokyo‼

Visitors can experience the latest electric hot water supply technology.

In October 2024, Nihon Itomic Co., Ltd. (President: Hirofumi Moriya) opened iTOMIC LABO, an R&D facility with a showroom where visitors can see and experience the latest electric hot water supply equipment.

ITOMIC LABO

At Nihon Itomic, we have always taken great care to ensure that our products and services are safe and reliable. We have also invested a great deal of time and effort into developing our own technologies and improving product performance. Furthermore, in addition to our efforts to electrify hot water supply, we have opened the iTOMIC LABO in Tokyo as a new R&D facility with the aim of furthering our understanding of how we can contribute to a sustainable society and play our part in achieving a low-carbon society.

At this new facility, you can experience the latest electric hot water units, and we will also be conducting various research and development and experiments with the intention of meeting the individual needs of our customers.

Exterior

The exterior design, which is based around the color white, has been crafted with the intention of reducing heat load and improving lighting efficiency, while also actively promoting the greening of the grounds. The white plastered exterior walls complement the greenery, creating an exterior that could be perceived as expressing the company’s ‘clean and green’ image. The entrance hall is a bright and open space that allows natural light to filter in through the stairwell. The second floor testing room and third floor development room have no ceilings, and the exposed piping deliberately creates a laboratory feel. On the fourth floor, we have arranged a demonstration space that can be used to show customers how the environment works.

In terms of the environment, we designed this facility with the following in mind:

ZEB READY (New Zero Energy Building)

  • Achieved ZEB Ready status with a BEI of 0.46 (54% reduction from the standard value) through the adoption of various energy-saving technologies (passive and active technologies).
  • BEI of 0.41 (59% reduction) when including energy generated by solar panels.

External skin performance

  • External insulation prevents heat bridges. The concrete acts as a heat storage body, stabilizing the indoor temperature like a thermos. High insulation performance is achieved by using high-performance insulation materials and increasing the thickness of the insulation itself.
  • The windows use ‘Low-E double glazing’ with high insulation performance. In addition, the louver, blinds and eaves reduce solar radiation and reduce the load on the air conditioning.
  • Curtain walls and other features provide natural lighting, reducing lighting load during the day.
  • The above insulation and window performance, etc., achieve an envelope performance BPI of 0.66. (Standard value = 1.00)
  • Active technology
    • High-efficiency air conditioning, total heat exchangers, high-efficiency lighting, and the use of various sensors reduce primary energy consumption.
    • Air conditioning: High efficiency packaged (EHP) air conditioning units are used.
    • Ventilation: Total heat exchangers are used.
    • Lighting: LED lighting and various sensors (e.g. motion sensors) are used.
  • Energy-generating technology
    • Solar panels (4.92kW) are installed.
